Robotics!

I finally have a use for this blog?! Well, kind of. I just wanted to post a quick recap of what happened on the 24th (Dallas BEST day) and maybe throw in some pictures for those of us who weren't able to make it (even though I myself had the ACT that day).

Highlights included:

- Mr. Bradbury wiping the brain's programming before our first round. Uh...
- Not being able to program the brain in time for the second round?! Hum....
- Dallas BEST giving us a fresh brain for the third round that... didn't work. Yeah....
- Getting 10,000 points in the next two rounds thanks to James and Aaron H. We soared from last place (26) to the edge of qualifying for semi-finals (rank 9). That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
- Failing extremely hard the next round thanks to Michael's amazing ability of dropping every item he picks up. Err..
- An epic last round, where James D. almost qualified us for semi-finals by placing two CO2 balls inside the buckets, but then knocking one down as he backed out. That's!... not what I'm talkin' 'bout?

Now for those pictures:

Our labor of love lives?!

last year's model is falling apart :(

A shot of the audience! Our display booth was right above the bleachers.

Speaking of the display booth, here are Alex and Alley trying to look busy.

One last shot of the competition while we (purple hat guys) were on the field! This round in particular netted us a total of... 1 point! That's... actually a bad thing.

A short clip of Aaron messing with the CO2. He was a little rough around the edges, don't you think? I blame my sarcasm on the hunger! Working out all of the 'last minute' kinks turned into a 5 hour ordeal, I skipped lunch! But the end result was worth it. :)

All in all, it was fun. Plenty of screaming and shouting, which may be detrimental to your health. Either way, you can't help but feel strange knowing a middle school placed higher than us. Better luck next year though, right? Sure!

Will the red willow ever calm down?
The rain never seems to soothe it as it used to
Tell me why, won't you?
You won't, becuase you have fallen prey
